Rain, rain go away......

....blah, blah, farmer, blah, blah, blah?????????

Stepped away....

...and now I am back.

I am good. Was crazy sick last week. Nose, stomach, throat, chest, sinuses.....I think only my little toe was normal. Just the little toe.

The girls are wild. We have been busy. This weekend we went to dinner with uncle Ryan and mom and Glynn. That was fun. Saturday Ellie and I made cookies and cupcakes while Payton hung out with dad and uncle Kevin. Then Joe, Em, Brookie and Estella all came over while their parents went out and we decorated the goodies. So now I have cupcakes, cookies, and brownies from the neighbor all staring at me from the kitchen counter. I need to stop that stuff......I saw a pic and I am looking chubby (healthy right) again. Damn the holiday season and all it's sugary goodness. I'll post pics later from home of our decorating party. The kids really enjoyed it, I think. We also played in the backyard for a long time. Brooke propped Ellie up in the Little Tykes Coupe and raced her full speed around the patio. Ellie was laughing so hard I thought she was going to stop breathing. It was awesome! Love that sound. Payton and Estella stayed up late (way too late) talking and giggling in bed. I wanted to sneak in and listen, but I didn't want to interrupt. Sometimes life just goes by so quickly and it's moments like that where you realize just how much your children are growing.

Sunday we went and picked up lunch with Kim and Estella and had a picnic at the park. It was flippin' hot. So after about 15 minutes of hard play, we let the 3 little red-cheeked kids play in the sprinkler playground in their clothes. They had a blast. Afterwards the girls and I went to meet my Grandma from Idaho for ice cream. She came through town for just the afternoon on her way home from her high school reunion in Burbank. The girls were happy to see her and were really really good little girls. I did catch Payton pouring sugar straight into her mouth from the sugar dispenser, but that is to be expected...she is my daughter after-all.

Brad had a good weekend, I think. He drug out the power washer and cleaned the pool filters and backyard all up. It's all shiny new now. All it takes is a tool. If he has some tool that he is impressed with, chores become fun. Tell him to clean the backyard with the water hose, no way! But give him a power washer that can take off at least 4 layers of skin in 2 seconds, he's all over it, lol. He also put the Bronco on eBay. Anyone want to buy it?

I'll bbl with some pics and more...gotta go get Payton from preschool in a few....

Why?

Sometimes there is just no answer. Today started out a normal day. It ended a little different. I haven't digested it all yet.

Thirsty Thursday

I need a drink! :P

Yay, tomorrow is Friday. Brad is leaving in the morning to fish a tournament at Lake Kaweah. I hope he wins some money.

It'll just be me and the girls most of the weekend. And the weather is going to be cool! Bakersfield Cool, anyway. That means in the 80's. Woo-hooo! We will have to do something fun.

Yesterday I worked in Payton's class for the first time this year. It was totally fun. Totally messy, but totally fun. Their preschools motto is if you didn't get messy, you didn't learn anything! They take it to heart too. I came home with black paint ALL OVER me, sand in my hair, and blue play-doh under my nails. Payton was so excited because the day that momma works is the day that she gets to be a line leader, soap squeezer in the bathroom, pledge leader, and ride a tricycle outside. She's the older, mature girl in the class now, instead of the youngest like last year. I was very proud when looking over their "S" pages. (S was the letter of the day.) Payton's was nice and neat and colorful....the other kids? Not so much, lol. Don't get me wrong, Payton has had lots of practice, being a returning student, but seeing that proved how much she has grown and learned in a years time.

Ellie is doing well. Yesterday was tough because I had to leave her at grandma's to go to Payton's school and she was not happy. :( It was nap time and she was worn out. Leaving her when she is that upset is the hardest thing ever. When I picked her up, though, she was all smiles. She had fun playing in the backyard with Grandma and Grandpa. She is sleeping in her big girl bed more often lately. Some nights she gets banished back to "baby jail" though, because she can't stay put. Last night I talked her into staying in bed by letting her sleep with her hula hoop. C'mon now. Her hula hoop? She was begging for it, and when I handed it over, she snuggled right up under it. Who knew a hula hoop could bring comfort? Certainly not me, lol!

We have dinner at my mom's tonight. Yippee! No cooking and dessert! Can't ask for a better night! :P

Ryan and Kloe are on my mind. xoxo

Tuesday Night

Had a good day....worked and then came home to play with the kiddos. Payton was ready and waiting to beat me at Mario Party 8. "Horack Rules!!!" is her chant after beating her old mom. Ellie was ready and waiting for the fashion show that she puts on every.single.day.

We went to dinner at Hodel's. Buffet anyone? :P Payton was requesting turkey and mashed potatoes and I did not feel like cooking. Larry and Donna went along with us. It was yummy! Reminds me of my early 20's when I worked there in the catering division. I even saw my old boss, Melvin. I loved that job, but it was hard work!

We went to play at Julie's after dinner. The kids were nuts! We turned on some music and they all danced and danced. Natalie and Dylan are pretty good little dancers! So much fun....makes me excited for all the years to come for the Alcorn/Horack kids. Poor Dylan, being the only boy is either really in for it, or really lucky-we can't decide which yet.

I cleaned my bathroom cabinets out last night. I won't be buying lotion for a long, long time. I have issues. Anything that promises to smooth and soften somehow jumps into my cart at Target. Well, now that I know just how much lotion I own, I won't be buying anymore for a long, long time!

Time to go to bed......tomorrow is a busy day!

Very very very good news.

BIG CONGRATS going out to one of my very best friends and her hubby.

Congrats John and Lori. I cannot wait to see just how cute your offspring will be! :)

xoxo

Kicking my own ass.

I am a firm believer in optimism. So the pessimism from these past few weeks is no longer allowed. I am not a wallower.

I see that when I have a better attitude, things are better in my life. WOW. Epiphany huh?

So right here, right now, I am doing a 180. See ya grouches later. ;)

It's not a silly little moment
It's not the storm before the calm
This is the deep and dying breath
Of this love that we've been working on
Can't seem to hold you like I want to
So I can feel you in my arms
Nobody's gonna come and save you
We pulled too many false alarms

We're going down
And you can see it, too
We're going down
And you know that we're doomed
My dear, we're slow dancing in a burning room

I was the one you always dreamed of
You were the one I tried to draw
How dare you say it's nothing to me?
Baby, you're the only light I ever saw
I'll make the most of all the sadness
You'll be a bitch because you can
You'll try to hit me just to hurt me
So you leave me feeling dirty
Cause you can't understand

We're going down
And you can see it, too
We're going down
And you know that we're doomed
My dear, we're slow dancing in a burning room
Go cry about it, why don't you?
My dear, we're slow dancing in a burning room

Don't you think we oughta know by now?
Don't you think we should have learned somehow?

My first born.

She's not such a baby anymore. Today was her first day back to preschool. She was so excited to go! She asked to wear her Incredible Hulk shirt. :P She's in the same class with the same teachers as last year. She and her bud Drew are the only two who didn't go on to Kindergarten because they didn't make the cut-off date. She knew the drill...walked into class, put her back pack into her cubby and joined her new friends at the play-doh table. I had to go steal a kiss. When I went to pick her up, she was hanging on the dinosaur carpet with some girls. She looked TIRED! Tired but completely happy.

Here is Payton and Drew after class. They both had paint all over them. Back to school means momma needs to buy some oxy-clean, lol!

And a pic of the two of us.

Last Thursday Payton had her appointment with the dermatologist. They removed the mole to be biopsied. At first the doctor didn't act too concerned. Then when she looked at it under the special lights she said she wanted it removed asap to be biopsied and then when I told her about Payton's paternal grandfather having melanoma, she got completely serious. It shook me up some and I can't get that lingering worry off my mind. I should hear from her by next week. Payton was completely brave. She didn't cry at all when she got the numbing shot nor when the mole was sliced off. I was grossed out though. Just send some good thoughts our way please...we could use them.

Happy Birthday Bradley Dean!

W00t w00t! Happy 31st punk. I hope this year is the best yet!

Today Payton has her dermatologist appointment for her mole. Makes me a little nervous. I hope it's just a weird mole. :P

This weekend the girls asked me to straighten their hair. Actually Ellie asked while I was doing mine, so I did theirs too. They are SO cute! Payton didn't look too much different, because her curls are so weighted down anyway, but Ellie looked like a different kid. And they LOVED it. They both ran their hands through their hair all day and I would catch them checking it out in the mirror. So cute.

Doesn't Payton look older all of a sudden? She starts back to preschool on Monday. Yesterday I went to orientation and tomorrow she goes to Open House to meet her new friends and pick her cubby out. She's totally excited.

Ellie looks big too! Like her boots? I told her to put on her pink flip flops with the white hearts.....she came out wearing these boots and said "I will wear the pink BOOTS with the white hearts. They match too." She's so spunky.
